What is a Blog

So What is a Blog???

Confused yet? Don’t be – its really quite simple. To put it as simply as possible – a blog is a type of website that is usually arranged in chronological order from the most recent ‘post’ (or entry) at the top of the main page to the older entries towards the bottom.

The blog lists information in categories to make it easier for you to find out what is important.

All posts will appear on the front page to show you whats new in the Colonial. but you can drill down using the categories or dates for specific information on events, special offers, birthdays, results and much more.

Below is a simple video that describes what happens and the overall uses.

Congratulations Scott McLean & Paul Burnell 2010 Foursomes Champions

Well done to the team of Paul Burnell and Scott McLean who have become the 2010 Foursomes Champions. The boys fired a sensational 79 off the stick to claim victory on a count back from Jim Kaliviotis & Phil Snow. The Nett event saw Jon Palk & Jeff Quick claim victory with a 70 just in front of Mick Vanitallie & Brett Mostyn on 70.5.

Well done to all winners.

A reminder that the Club Championships are not to far away with the first round on Saturday 31st July.

Rule “25”- Abnormal Ground Conditions – ‘SALIVA’

What is the status of saliva (a) on the fairway (b) on the green ?

Disgusting it may be but it happens. Decision 25/6 states :-

“In equity (Rule 1-4), saliva may be treated as either an abnormal ground condition (Rule 25-1) OR as a loose impediment (Rule 23-1), at the option of the player.”

So you may take relief if it interferes with your stance or swing on the fairway (i.e. take a drop within 1 club length of the nearest point of relief or move it as a loose impediment). On the green you may also take relief if it interferes with the line of your putt.

COOL TIMES IN COURSE MAINTENANCE

With winter well and truly here morning temperatures had the team reaching for there beanies, gloves and jackets before there starting time of 5:30am.  Monday 28th has easily been the coolest morning by far with a nippy 5 degrees recorded on course.  The 13th greenside garden has been re-planted and mulched with the 15th tee garden almost complete.  Cart path repairs have been completed on the 5th, 7th, 16th, 17th and adjacent to the halfway house and the greens have recieved an application of liquid fertiliser

Welcome to Our New Blog

Welcome to the first edition Blog Newsletter. From a personal perspective, I am passionate about our team of staff and our Golf Course but frustrated by not being able to provide everyone with regular updated information.  The more I learn and understand about new technology the more inspired I become about the urgency of making important interesting information on our Golf Course available to everyone.

At this critical turning point in our evolution we all need to raise our awareness and the Blog newsletter is dedicated to provide some of the lesser known but important snippets of information and well as let everyone know just what we have on offer on a week to week basis at The Colonial.

Did you know that you only pay half price green fees when you become a Mega Member ?

It’s an energising process for all of us involved and hopefully easy to read simple concepts presented in an uncomplicated way. I encourage you to read articles you are interested in and even if they are not,  by doing so you might just enjoy the opportunity to find a comfy seat and take some time to have a read.

The Colonial Golf Course is an independently owned business.  We do not have the funds for big marketing campaigns, so we largely rely on word of mouth referrals to grow. If you enjoy playing Golf and like what we are about, please tell your friends and loved ones about us and share The Colonial Golf Course experience.

Happy Blog reading!
